Mark is a Senior Geochemist with 8 years of experience in experimental geochemistry. Mark’s experience largely focuses on the design, implementation and operation of experimental programmes aimed at mine waste characterisation and investigating acid rock drainage (ARD) prediction and mitigation. Experimental programmes conducted by Mark cover the full life of mine span from pre-feasibility planning to recovery / remediation treatment systems for active and legacy mine wastes.

Outside of this Mark has experience in academic research in geochemistry and biohydrometallurgy. Primarily he has focussed on mine and industrial waste valorisation with a view to resource recovery and implementation of circular economy principles. Mark has researched and developed potential recovery pathways for commodities such as cobalt, copper, lead, zinc and nickel from a variety of sources including, amongst others, high sulfur tailings, red mud, jarosite waste and incinerator bottom ash. More recently Mark has performed research and aided in the experimental design of carbon capture projects with a focus on enhanced weathering.
